Attacker from Yaroslavl “Lokomotiv” Maxim Chalunov has dropped out until the end of the season and will not participate in the final playoff series of the Fonbet KHL championship this season with Metallurg, reports RB Sport.
Shalunov, 31, was not included in the lineup for the second match of the series, which took place on Saturday in Magnitogorsk and ended in a victory for the hosts (1:0). After the first match of the series, Lokomotiv coach Igor Nikitin announced that Shalunov was injured and would undergo a medical examination.
According to RB Sport, the hockey player’s injury turned out to be more serious than expected and he will no longer participate in the playoffs.
Shalunov scored 6 (5+1) points in 17 playoff games. The score in the series up to four victories is 2-0 in favor of Magnitogorsk, the third match will take place in Yaroslavl on April 22.
