Not without Russian participation. Russian Valery Nichushkin opened the scoring in the match and Vladislav Namestnikov scored 2:1 in favor of Winnipeg.
This is the third time in NHL history that 13 or more goals have been scored in the opening game of the NHL playoffs. In the 21st century, this case was the first.
Previously, Los Angeles and Edmonton in 1982 (18 goals), as well as Chicago and Detroit in 1985 (14 goals) could boast similar performances in the opening game of the playoffs.
