The Gagarin Cup trophy was visited at the memorial at the place of death “Lokomotiv” ahead of the third game of the Fonbet KHL Championship playoff final between Yaroslavl and Magnitogorsk Metallurg, the KHL press service reports.
On September 7, 2011, the main crew of Lokomotiv died in the crash of a Yak-42D plane during a flight to Minsk, killing 44 people. The tragedy occurred during takeoff from Yaroslavl Tunoshna airport.
Metallurg won both home matches against Lokomotiv (2:1, 1:0) and leads the best-of-four final series with a score of 2-0.
