Over the last three rounds of the current Gagarin Cup, 116 hockey players from all participating teams were tested for doping, the KHL press service reports.
It should be noted that 40 tests were carried out on hockey players in the quarter-finals and 20 more during the semi-final series.
— During the regular championships of the 2023/24 season of KHL, MHL and WHL, 122 tests were carried out on the orders of the league. During the playoffs, more intensive testing is carried out in all three leagues. In the KHL alone, 56 tests were conducted in the first round, during which samples were taken from 48 hockey players representing the 16 teams qualified for the Gagarin Cup.
In subsequent stages, players from each team who continued to participate in the KHL playoffs took part in the tests again. 40 tests were carried out in the quarter-finals of the Gagarin Cup and 20 in the semi-finals. Checks on players are also carried out during the Gagarin Cup final, the message states.
In the final of the Gagarin Cup, Metallurg Magnitogorsk and Lokomotiv Yaroslavl meet, the series score is 3-0 in favor of Magnitogorsk. The fourth match will take place on April 24 in Yaroslavl. The game will be available live on the channel and on the websites matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru. The broadcast begins at 6:15 p.m. (Moscow time).
