Athletistic/Hockey. NHL fans were divided over whether Artemi Panarin’s power grab against TJ Oshie in Game 2 of the playoff series went unpunished.

The incident occurred with just over 13 minutes remaining in the third period. Rangers forward Panarin raised his elbow and threw a hard punch at Oshie, appearing to hit the Caps forward in the face.

The referees initially imposed a heavy fine on New York’s number 10, but after reviewing replays, the decision was overturned. Oshie then returned to the game.

League fans reacted ambiguously to Panarin’s actions:

“There should be a deletion,” one fan wrote on X.

“Pure acting,” another viewer commented.

“This is pure power play, Oshie shouldn’t hang his head so low,” said one fan who joined the discussion.

Here are some other reactions on site X:

“If Tom Wilson did something like this, Rangers would issue a strong statement,” expressed his opinion on social media.

“Rangers fans say it’s all clear, but if Wilson did that to Panarin they’d be talking about sending him out already,” commented another.

“Clean. Now look how Oshie hit Panarin with his stick, and the referees didn’t pay attention to it,” objected one of the fans.

W O’Callaugh:

– It seemed to me that it was intentional. I was surprised that only one fine was issued: McMichael. I guess in the third game, Panarin will have to look over his shoulder, waiting for retaliation.

Advantages of telecommunications:

– Panarin rode dirty around Osha. Of course, that’s not Artemy’s style, but I don’t care. The refereeing is disgusting. Thanks Betman.

Gabriel:

– It’s an infraction. Even more disgusting than Panarin’s lack of ejection was that the Washington Capitals coaching staff brought Oshie back into the game. Whoever allowed this to happen to Oshi should be fired.

Jrlobo:

– Panarin will pay dearly in one of the next two matches.

Zen washer:

– The bread must be made into dough again.

PHXCAPSFAN:

– Panarin will be punished until the end of the series. He must keep his head held high.

BObobot100:

– It’s clearly a blow to the head. It’s scary how difficult it is for Oshi to get up after the collision. I can’t imagine how he got back into the game.

Alétheia42:

– There was no elbow play, but there certainly should have been a takedown.

Rabbit puck:

– I commend McMickey for defending Oshie… It’s so unfair that he received the only penalty in this situation.

WB585:

– Isn’t this subject to review after the match? Nightmare.

LindGoat:

– Do you think he will be disqualified as a result? No, hell no…league management loves the Rangers.

HappyFunBall:

– Understand that when the NHL says it cares about player safety, it is lying to you.

Remember that Tuesday evening the New York Rangers hosted the Washington Capitals at Madison Square Garden in the second game of the playoffs. The home team beat the Caps (4:3) and took a 2-0 lead in the series.

Erik Gustafsson, Alexis Lafrenière, Vincent Trocheck and Mika Zibanejad scored two points each for the Blueshirts. Igor Shesterkin stopped 22 of 25 shots.

Artemi Panarin and the Rangers will travel to Capital One Arena on Friday to take on the Capitals in Game 3.

Does the capital club have any chance of success? An underestimation on the part of the Rangers could play into Washington’s hands. This season, the capital often had to protect the desired result and rather break the game of others than build their own. This experience will always be useful now.

Washington still has a chance. Yes, at the moment there are not many of them, but the Caps have already shown how they can force the fight. In fact, that’s exactly what they did in the second game. It may take a little more luck and precision to seriously succeed, but the mood of most of the team is okay.
