Team Head Coach Russia Alexei Zhamnov said that without international tournaments, it is better for hockey players to play more regular season games at clubs in order to get more playing practice.
– So the team expects only one tournament in the season?
– Right now – yes, the First Channel Cup. We will invite all the strongest hockey players at the time of the tournament.
– Is it wise to organize another tournament?
– It seems to me that under the current conditions it is better to play more matches in a fluid league. If there are more games, there will be more practice for the guys and more food for thought for us. In such a situation, you need to play as much as possible in your clubs. But who knows, suddenly the situation will change. We live for a day.

– I tell you, we will follow the progress of young players, I will travel the country, communicate. The December tournament will be an indicator: whoever performs best in the regular season will be called up to the national team. There we will just see the current composition of the national team. Right now the doors are open to everyone,” Zhamnov told a correspondent.
Earlier, Russian Hockey Federation (FHR) President Vladislav Tretiak told about the one-year extension of the deal with Zhamnov.
