Our national team had a big problem with a weaker opponent.
The Ukrainian national hockey team won the third victory in the World Championship in Division 1B. However, this time, unlike previous matches, the “blue-yellow” had a big problem with the opponent.
Dmitry Khristich’s team approached the game against Spain underestimating their opponent, who was considered an outright outsider. Pyrenees only rose to Division 1B this season, so the Ukrainians are considered clear favourites.
However, in practice it turned out quite differently. The first period passed without goals, and the crowd saw the first goal scored just after the break, and it was done by the Spanish.
The goal missed in the minority was the first for our team in the tournament. We managed to bring it back at the end of the second 20 minutes. And the teams again entered the final break with a draw score, but this time it was 1:1.
And only at the last stage did the Ukrainians prove their significant class advantage. Spain, tired of constantly playing in defense, began to make mistakes, which our hockey players took advantage of, scoring five dry goals.
6:1 – in favor of the Ukrainian team, and on Friday Khristich’s team will face a decisive battle for first place with the Lithuanian team.
