KHL Referee-in-Chief Alexei Anissimov said that the departure of foreign referees from the league would increase the load on Russian specialists. Anisimov also commented on referee Roman Hoffmann’s decision to leave Russia and pursue his career in the German league.
– How will the departure of foreign judges and Roman Hoffmann affect the quality of refereeing in the new season?
– How the departure will affect, we will know at the end of the season. So far, only one thing can be said with certainty, that the referee season will be intense, as the number of matches has increased. This is why the preparation we have started is important. The training camp was excellent, we managed to examine the readiness of 72 judges, at the moment we are analyzing the results. We see that there is an opportunity to attract four main and lineal referees to the “bilateral contract”.
How did Hoffmann explain his decision?
– Everyone has their own reasons and it is more correct if they speak about it themselves.
– What do you think of the statements that the policy of attracting foreign judges was “short-sighted”?
– We have an international league, so the involvement of foreign judges is not exotic, but a normal process. It is important to understand that we did not invite the first foreigners who showed up, but the most deserving ones with rich experience. Of course, this experience has been useful for us and the judiciary,” Anisimov told RB Sport.
