Head coach of CSKA Ilya Vorobiev said he met Sergei Fedorov after his appointment to army command.
In the 2023/24 season, the military team led by Fedorov was eliminated in the first round of the Gagarin Cup, losing to Lokomotiv with a score of 1–4 in the series. At the end of March, CSKA announced that Vorobiev would lead the team starting in the new season.
