Last season, Ak Bars was coached by Zinetula Bilyaletdinov. The Kazan team ended the 2023/2024 season following the results of the first round of the KHL playoffs, losing to Yekaterinburg Avtomobilist (1-4 in the series).
Anvar Gatiyatulin previously coached Traktor Chelyabinsk and was also an assistant coach for SKA and the Russian national team.
