Athletistic / Hockey. The Chicago Blackhawks NHL club is very concerned about the ongoing proceedings between the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) and the Russian Hockey Federation (RHF). The IIHF recently imposed sanctions on organizations due to goaltender Ivan Fedotov’s performance at CSKA.
According to Sportsmonkery, Chicago management believes that this whole situation could become a problem for their club to select SKA forward Ivan Demidov with the second overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft. The 18-year-old Russian has one year left on his contract with the St. Petersburg club, but the Black Hawks are not sure whether the prodigy, under the current circumstances, can join the club in the 2025/2026 season.
Ivan Fedotov became a member of the Philadelphia Flyers in March. According to the decision of the IIHF, the Russian goalkeeper will not be able to represent Russia on the international stage for three years. CSKA prohibits all international transfers.
