“Yes, the dog’s name is Jagr. It’s my girlfriend’s decision.” Interview with Andrei Mironov on his birthday

Correspondents of “” traveled to Nizhny Novgorod Bor, where Moscow “Dynamo” is completing pre-season training camp. And immediately we spoke to one of the leaders of the Whites and Blues, a seasoned KHL defender Andrei Mironov, who can be safely called one of the best showmen in our league.

July 29 Andrey celebrated his birthday. As expected, head coach Alexei Kudashov congratulated him on the ice to the drumbeat of the clubs. But then things didn’t go as planned! Ilya Kablukov, who slid towards Mironov from behind, drove Andrei to the face with a cake. I had to go wash myself and at the same time carefully wipe the visor of the helmet.

But then – training according to plan. Room and ice with a complete layout.

We also tried to surprise Andrey with an unexpected “move attack” by preparing a non-standard question. But it wasn’t there…

“I would like to receive KHL awards not only for social networks”

“Is it true that you named your dog Jagr?”

“It is, but it’s just my girlfriend’s dog, and that’s what she called it. Do you want me to know why? Andrey picks up the phone and after a short conversation reports. – The dog is thoroughbred, according to the pedigree, it was necessary to find a name for him on “I”. Well, what are the names of this letter? Do not call a dog Jacob.

“Actually, we heard about Jagr through your social media. You pay so much attention to them that you even received a special award from the KHL for popularizing hockey.

“I would like to receive other awards, and not only for social networks”, laughs Andrey. – But it’s also nice. It’s good for the league, for the players and for the fans. People love to surf the Internet. I’ve been doing this for a long time. At first the guys laughed, they called me a blogger. And then many slowly began to master this craft too. Grichka Panin received such an award last year. And now, with me, Yegor Yakovlev was rewarded. We show our life. I’m sure many young players follow our pages with great interest. After all, we don’t post anything there, but we also talk about various good deeds, which you won’t hear about anywhere else. People are interested in the behavior of hockey players in everyday life, in their free time. If I had had the opportunity to follow the life of professional players when I was a child, I would not have picked up the phone, I would have watched everything.

– How do you do everything?

– Maria helps me with social media posts, she is engaged in SMM in our club. He also edits my videos. If I did everything myself, I would probably be sitting on social media for days.

– Let’s be specific: how much time did you spend, for example, recording a video about frying salmon?

– No way. I just cook here. Right before that, I’m looking for someone to shoot it on camera and then edit it. All I have to do is show the recipe, fry the fish and taste it at the end.

“Ivlev calls Hell’s Kitchen. Maybe I’ll go”

– So you take a cookbook, you find a recipe…

– Well, what a book … My grandmother had one, and now I take a recipe from the Internet that I like, read it and put it into practice in front of my subscribers.

– Did you have time to do something like that in training camp?

“There are other concerns here. Although we have a good bathhouse here at the base. We had a steam bath, went out in the back yard, fried chicken, sausages… We had a good moment in nature. By the way, it’s also convenient for the coaching staff when the team’s day off is like this. Seen from the balcony – everything is in place.

– Have you thought about creating your own cooking show?

For now, what I post on social networks is enough for me. Although Konstantin Ivlev invited me to Hell’s Kitchen. If time permits in the future, I will go.

— We saw that you also mastered wakesurfing this season. Is it difficult to control the board on the water?

– It is difficult to understand at first how the muscles must work to stand on them. I must have fallen a million times. Otherwise it wouldn’t be interesting! Well, what is it – I just got up and left.

“We do not pay attention to the prognoses of skeptics”

– How do you feel after two weeks in training camp – exhausted to the limit or, on the contrary, perfectly prepared?

– Physically, I was not tired, but I prepared myself with my coach, he brings me gently to the training camp. Although the formation is such that you want to quickly reach the number and take a horizontal position. You are more emotionally tired from training camps. There is a kind of groundhog day, which you want to free yourself from, at least to see other people around you. And physical fatigue is common.

– In Bor, you don’t live in Suarez’s room? The Uruguayan national team was based here during the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

– Yes, there are still nameplates on some rooms. But I don’t. Probably, there was some kind of massage parlor, – Andrey laughs.

– What can you say to skeptics who predict Dynamo won’t make the playoffs because they parted ways with their leaders?

– Chickens are counted in hockey in the spring, so we usually do not pay attention to such prophecies. We have good guys in the team, who now form a real family. Everything will depend on us.

– Are you personally satisfied with the fact that there will be up to 68 matches in the championship?

“Playing is always better than training. In games, young people have the opportunity to prove themselves. More games, more opportunities. And the league will grow with the players.

“For Makar, education came first. It won’t work in the KHL.”

– This year, the Stanley Cup was won by Colorado, in which you spent a season. And Cale Makar was recognized as the best defenseman in the league. Did you meet him in the NHL?

– No, when Colorado took Makar in the draft, he played in the student league. He was arrested after I left the NHL. But everyone knew Cale was a future star, he was enchanting on his college team. It was just that his education was in the first place. It’s a common practice there, people prefer to unlearn first, then sign the first contract in the NHL. After all, education allows them to work in a good specialty and earn a lot of money outside of hockey.

Is it possible for a KHL player to have a strong non-athletic background?

It is difficult to reconcile studies and professional sport. With us, if you study full time at a university, where will you play? Our student leagues are not strong enough to enter the KHL directly, and even for the leading role in the team. At this stage, it is not realistic.

– Recently, the best players have been determined in the NHL. And not a single Russian defender made it into the top 30. Can you explain why?

– But at the level of the goalkeeper position, the Russians are in order – ours are in the leading roles. The forwards are great too. We won’t capture all of the NHL’s top 10. So, now is such a period. Probably all the best defensemen in the KHL play.

– Andrey Markov was polished by Zinetula Bilyaletdinov before leaving for the NHL. Have you had such a mentor in your life?

– I heard a lot of similar stories about Zinetula Khaidyarovich. And Sashka Eremenko and Lekha Tereshchenko. He meticulously demanded that the players act skillfully in defense. Personally, my teammates taught me more. First of all, Ilya Vladimirovich Gorokhov. In general, everyone taught me at Dynamo when I entered the adult team. Even foreigners – Granyak, Novak. I absorbed and analyzed their every word like a sponge. From now on, our young people will work in exactly the same way. So don’t worry about Dynamo – everything is under control.
