Canadian goaltender says he turned down NHL offers for KHL contract

Canadian Guardian of Magnitogorsk”Metallurgist » Edouard Pasquale said he refused offers from National Hockey League (NHL) clubs to sign a contract with the Russian team.

– Initially, I expected to stay in Yaroslavl. But they announced that they did not plan to use legionnaires. The agent said that several clubs were interested in me. As you can see, I played well against Magnitogorsk (laughs), I like the arena here, there are several guys I know, plus three more Canadians, the goalkeeping coach speaks English… Everything coincided.

In Russia they treat me very well. I like being here. If I didn’t like it, I wouldn’t be here, would I? I had options to return to my home country – offers from NHL clubs. But I rejected them to stay in Russia,” Metallurg’s press service quoted Pasquale as saying.

Last season, Pasquale played for Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. Previously, the Canadian defended the colors of the Barys of Kazakhstan.
