Athletistic / Hockey. Colorado Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar spoke vaguely about the futures of forwards Valeri Nichushkin and Gabriel Landeskog with the Denver club. The coach did so after the Avalanche were eliminated from the 2024 Stanley Cup.
“No one likes this uncertainty because it makes long-term planning difficult. We hope to get some answers so we can start building the team for next season. Obviously, Nichushkin and Landeskog have pretty high salaries. He There is no doubt that both need to sort out their situations.
I would love nothing more than to see Landeskog back on the ice. I think it could happen. If anyone can do it, it’s Gabriel,” Bednar said as quoted by Denver Sports.
On May 14, Valery Nichushkin was transferred to the third stage of the NHL Player Assistance Program, which is why he will miss at least six months. For the second consecutive year, Valéry prematurely ended his participation in the Stanley Cup for reasons other than sporting.
Gabriel Landeskog underwent a cartilage graft in his right knee in May 2023. The Swede has still not recovered and completely missed the current NHL season.
Colorado lost the series 2-4 to the Dallas Stars to end the season.
