Athletistic / Hockey. Carolina Hurricanes forward Andrei Svechnikov said last season was tough for him. Furthermore, the Russian appreciated his performance in the same team as his compatriots.

“Last season was difficult. I had problems with my knee in the first two months, but this year I learned a lot, I gave my all in every match and tried to improve every day.

It’s always great to have compatriots on the team. It’s nice to talk in your native language, not only about hockey, but also about life, because we have the same culture with the guys,” Svechnikov was quoted as saying by the Carolina press service.

Four Russians played for Carolina in the 2023/2024 season: Svechnikov himself, goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov, defenseman Dmitry Orlov and forward Evgeny Kuznetsov, who joined the Hurricanes at the deadline.

In 11 games of the 2024 Stanley Cup, Andrei Svechnikov scored 11 (2+9) points using the goal+pass system. Carolina lost to the New York Rangers in the second round of the playoffs (2-4 in the series).
