Front SKA Arseniy Gritsiouk said that while playing for the Russian 25 national team, he was not in the best physical shape.
The Russia 25 team won all five matches on the May tour. On May 2 in Astana, Rotenberg’s team defeated the Kazakhstan team (1:0), then won four victories against the Belarusians.
“I understood that my physical condition was far from ideal and that as a member of the national team, I could go in the shadow of my comrades. I wanted to prove to myself that I had not lost my skills and that I could return to a high level. I asked Roman Borisovich (Rotenberg) to meet me halfway on this issue, and he agreed. I think we both benefited from it,” Gritsyuk said, as quoted by RT.
In the last KHL season, 23-year-old Gritsyuk played 60 games for SKA, scoring 44 (23+21) points.
