The Swiss team defeated the Finnish team in the group stage match of the World Hockey Championship.
The Group A match ended with a score of 3:1 (0:0, 2:1, 1:0). Kevin Fiala scored a brace for the winners, Andrea Gloser scored another goal and Ere Innala scored for the Finns.
The Swiss beat the Czechs (16 points) in Group A and took second place in the group stage with 17 points. Finland (10) entered the playoffs from fourth place.
In another match of the day, the Swedish team defeated the Slovak team – 6:1 (1:0, 3:0, 2:1). Joel Eriksson Ek scored twice, and Lucas Raymond, Erik Karlsson, Andre Burakovsky and Isak Lundeström also scored. Michal Ivan scored against the Slovaks.
The Swedes took first place in Group B, winning all matches and collecting 21 points. The Slovak team (12) qualified for the playoffs from fourth position.
The World Cup quarter-finals begin on May 23.
