The Czech Republic beat Switzerland in the final of the 2024 Ice Hockey World Cup

Pastrnak scored the winning goal in the third period

Czech in Prague put the squeeze on Switzerland in the third period and achieved a difficult victory (2:0), becoming world champion in hockey 2024.

Most of the time the game was cautious and generally equal. The teams had approximately equal shots on goal, with the Czechs winning face-offs more often.

The “golden” puck was scored by Boston Bruins right winger David Pastrnak, who completed a combination involving Tomas Kundratek and Libor Hajek in the middle of the third period. When the Swiss rushed to win back at any cost at the very end, David Kampf doubled the score, hitting an empty net.

The Czech Republic won the World Cup for the first time since 2010 and the seventh time in total (or the 13th if you count together with Czechoslovakia). For Switzerland, this final was the fourth in history – and the fourth lost.

Let us remind you that Sweden beat Canada earlier in the match for third place.
