Goalkeeper “Salavat Yulayev” Ilya Yezhov shared his impressions of signing a contract with the Ufa club.
Yezhov’s transfer was announced on May 5.
– Ufa is a city that lives and encourages hockey. I am very happy to be in this team. I have a new start, let’s say, at 35 a new breath has opened.
I had conversations with Salavat for a long time, but somehow it didn’t work out in the end. That Metsola took first place, and then a few other factors. This year, the situation went well for me and I decided to sign a contract. It’s an elite, top-level club and I’m very happy for such an offer and such a chance to relaunch my career,” Yezhov said in ‘Championship’.
Last season, Yezhov played for Vityaz near Moscow, where he played in 32 KHL regular season games. He reflected 91.3% of shots, his safety factor was 2.76.
In total, the goalie played 398 games in the KHL, in which his team won 154 wins. Earlier in the league, Yezhov also played for Lada Togliatti, Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk and SKA Saint Petersburg, with whom he won the Gagarin Cup in the 2014/15 season.
