Ovechkin named one of the four greatest athletes in Washington history

The Sporting News portal named the four greatest athletes in the history of the city of Washington. Washington Capitals Hockey Club Captain Alexander Ovechkin American football player Darrell Green, basketball player Wes Unseld and baseball player Walter Johnson.

The list of players was compiled as part of the SN Rushmore Project to identify the four greatest athletes in history from 13 US cities that are home to at least one club from the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, WNBA leagues.

The Sporting News noted that he considers Ovechkin the leading scorer in hockey history.

Ovechkin played 77 games last season, scoring 50 goals and 40 assists. In the playoffs, he has 6 points (1+5) in 6 games.
