Athletistic / Hockey. The Russian Hockey Federation (RHF) has filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the decision of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) to impose a fine on the organization, the press release reports. Previously, the IIHF Disciplinary Commission fined the Russian organization one million Swiss francs for the performance of goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov in the KHL in the 2023/2024 season.

“The FHR filed a complaint with the Court of Arbitration for Sport. This happened two days ago,” TASS quotes a statement from an FHR representative.

On August 14, the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) imposed sanctions on CSKA, banning the military team from international transfers for the entire 2023/2024 season. The IIHF also suspended Ivan Fedotov until December 31, 2023. However, on September 1, the goaltender took to the ice in the opening match of the KHL season against Ak Bars (2:5) . The IIHF’s independent disciplinary board subsequently rejected appeals by Fedotov and CSKA against the decision.

And already in April, the IIHF banned Ivan Fedotov from participating in official domestic and international matches for two years and extended CSKA’s ban on international transfers for another season.

Ivan Fedotov joined the NHL in March and made his debut with the Philadelphia Flyers.
