Athletistic / Hockey. Washington Capitals captain and forward Alexander Ovechkin has named his NHL successor. It is now the 38-year-old Russian who is considered the main face of the North American league.

“Now my successor, I think, will be McDavid. If we don’t take him? Then MacKinnon,” Ovechkin said in a long interview to the YouTube channel “It’s hockey, brother!”

Connor McDavid is the captain of the Edmonton Oilers and one of the best hockey players of a generation. In 76 NHL regular season games during the 2023/2024 season, he scored 132 points (32 goals, 100 assists).

Nathan MacKinnon is the offensive leader of the Colorado Avalanche. In 82 games during the last regular season, the Canadian scored 140 (51+89) points using the goal+pass system.

Alexander Ovechkin scored 65 effective actions in 79 games of the NHL regular season – he scored 31 goals and made 34 assists. In total, he scored 853 goals and 697 assists during his NHL career.
