Sports director of Moscow “Dynamo » Alexei Sopin in an interview with , he said that the new KHL schedule, which the league began to publish, turned out to be more balanced than last season.
Dynamo Moscow will begin the new regular KHL championship with two home matches – against Kunlun Red Star and Severstal, after which the team will have to travel to Togliatti to face Lada.
— What is your impression of the new calendar? We had an easy start.
— Maybe on paper it looks like we’re not playing the KHL giants. But it’s hard to guess here. These three clubs can be nasty, even tough, opponents.
In principle, our entire championship is level. And I won’t say that it’s difficult to start the season with some clubs, and bad with others. Yes, if we have big people at the start, it is more attractive in terms of business and marketing. Well, in terms of sports, there is another side to this.
But in general we don’t divide teams into strong and weak. We have such a level of competition in the KHL that any club can beat anyone. We are preparing very hard for the start of the season and will take any opponent seriously.
— The full schedule for the new KHL season will be released on Tuesday and the season has now been extended by a month. What nuances did you notice for Dynamo?
— I have not yet studied the calendar in depth, because I have not received it, I only know the general points. But our schedule is good and the arena has met us halfway in some areas.
If I’m not mistaken, we won’t have four-game trips anymore. The schedule is busier than last season. Previously, we had played three doubleheaders. Out of 18 matches in November-December, we played 15 away matches. It was also a big problem in every way: psychology, morality, “physics”. It’s hard to play outside all the time for almost two months. Apparently, this season we will avoid such moments. The schedule will be more regular, balanced and more practical for the team. Everything is fine, play well,” Sopin told .
