Former CSKA goalkeeper coach Sergei Naumov told how difficult it was to leave the Moscow club, where he worked for the last six seasons.
Naumov was named goaltending coach for the New York Islanders farm club in the AHL, the Bridgeport team.
— You spent six years at CSKA and it was there that you became one of the main goalie coaches in the KHL. Was it difficult leaving the club?
— Of course, you grow in the team and in the place. We won three Gagarin Cups and achieved great success. When you go through so much together, it all makes the team friendlier. There were not only victories, but also difficult moments where we came back from 1-3 in the final and finally achieved our goals.
I would like to emphasize that I enjoyed working in Yaroslavl for three years and it was not easy to leave. But you must always understand that this is inevitable. At CSKA, the team was conducive to comfortable work, but at the moment everything was going like this.
— Has the decision to leave CSKA been in preparation for a long time?
– It’s not ripe. Just a coincidence. I didn’t make any plans in advance. The contract is over and that’s it. The team has a new coaching team,” Naumov said according to Sport24.
