Athletistic / Hockey. Vitaly Davydov, three-time Olympic hockey champion, reacted to the new summer training dates of KHL teams. Starting with the 2024/2025 season, the league has changed the start of training camp.

“I completely agree with Vladimir Yurzinov: what right does the KHL have to dictate to coaches which training period they should choose?! This should only be a coaching decision! The KHL must organize competitions and fine-tuning the schedule, and not getting involved in the training matters!

With Yurzinov, we believe that young people should above all train as much as possible. The KHL is making a big mistake by introducing work bans in July. The whole hockey world has to deal with this,” Davydov said in an interview with Russia-Hockey.ru.

Starting from the 2024/2025 season, the deadline for the KHL championship has been changed: the final game of the playoffs can now be played on May 31, and not on April 30, as was previously the case. For this reason, the dates of pre-season training camps have also been changed: players on one-way contracts cannot start preparing for the season on their teams before August 1; hockey players with bilateral and trial contracts – no earlier than July 15; youth team players – no earlier than July 1.
