Canada imposed sanctions against the president of the Russian Hockey Federation (FHR ) Vladislav Tretiak in February last year, the information about this was repeated today, the FHR told .

On Thursday, the Canadian Foreign Ministry issued a statement saying it was imposing sanctions against Tretiak. The same press release was published in February 2023; in the new document, only the year of birth of the president of the FHR was changed – from 1962 to 1952.

— We cannot say that today Canada imposed sanctions against Tretyak. They were introduced in February last year. Today this information was simply repeated; it is nothing new. Vladislav Alexandrovich himself is currently working in Kazan at the BRICS Games. And its greatest expectation in terms of hockey is connected only with the fact that the Russian national team will return to international competitions, fighting for medals at the World Championships and the Olympics, FHR told .

In 1989, Tretyak, who played for CSKA and the USSR national team, became the first Soviet hockey player to enter the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto.
