“I approach Zidane shyly, and he says to me: ‘Come on, speak Russian, back and forth!’ Sychev – on charity, ‘Zenith’ and ‘Vanguard’

On Saturday, a charity game was held at Arena Play North. Artemy Panarin and other NHL stars helped boy Elisey Artamonov, who was raising money for emergency surgery and rehabilitation after a doctor’s mistake. One of the participants in the meeting was the bronze medalist of the 2008 European Football Championship Dmitry Sychev.

– Dima, share your emotions. It’s not every day you get to play hockey with Alexander Ovechkin, Artemy Panarin and other NHL stars.

Yes, you answered your own question. It’s great to be able to play hockey with people like that. Especially when you yourself come from a family of footballers. And so I was invited… That’s nice. We are doing a great job. People from all sports are for charity.

– In football, it can be compared to a gala match like FIFA’s anniversary, when the main stars of the world enter the field. Was it like that with you?

– You know, yes, such a bright moment happened when I played in Marseille. There was an earthquake in Algiers, and Zinedine Zidane is from there. He decided to organize a charity match to help the inhabitants. The Velodrome hosted the 1998 France team (when they won the World Cup) and Marseille itself.

— I was stunned. You go out on the field, and there – Laurent Blanc, Fabien Barthez, Marcel Desailly… All great.

I was very shy to go see Zidane and ask him for a jersey. I was really pounded. Then I outdid myself by asking in French: “Can I have your T-shirt, Monsieur Zinedine?” And he said to me: “Go to Russian, round trip, generally normal!” In general, I now have a Zidane shirt in my collection.

– You are from Omsk, Avangard will play in the new arena from October. How do you like it?

– Mixed feelings. On the one hand, the team will now play in Omsk and I will see them less often.

On the other hand, I am happy for Omsk, who will finally see their native team on their native land. It’s expensive. People are bored, the whole town lives for hockey. And I think it’s great that Avangard is going home and playing in front of his audience.

– What are the chances of Avangard after the departure of Bob Hartley?

– Let’s see… It seems to me that the new head coach Dmitry Ryabykin absorbed Bob’s system a lot. And if everything is clear within the team, then there can be success.

– Legionnaires have been raised, there is hope for Arseniy Gritsyuk.

– Senya is practically our idol! I really want him to show himself brilliantly in leadership positions. Because the man is incredibly talented. The eye rejoices!

– At this charity game, who would you ask for a jersey?

– But hockey players don’t change. Such a tradition does not exist.

– You are in Ovechkin’s team, you should have asked him. What luck !

– I have attended NHL games in the United States more than once and I have different jerseys.

“With autographs?”

– Of course not. To be honest, I’m a little embarrassed to collect them. I don’t like to receive people, they have a lot of things to do.

What can you say about RPL? Who will be able to impose competition on Zenith?

– To be honest, we don’t know how other clubs will be able to do this. Until there are equal conditions for all…

– Financial? Administrative?

– All – let’s say broadly. But objectively, Zenit have solid players. When they give their best, the opponents have no special chance. But the plot is there, and that’s the most important thing.

– How did Zenit save its Brazilians?

– Perhaps they are patriots of our country?

You are in incredible shape. Where does this tan come from?

– I didn’t bring it anywhere. It’s a Moscow tan. We train on the sand in Gorky Park three times a week.

– With whom?

– With bathers. Aleksey Smertin, Evgeny Aldonin, other guys are connected. When you train from three to five to plus 33, your tan is so even that you don’t even have to go anywhere.

– The sand of Moscow does not burn your heels?

– Of course not. And it is a very interesting and accessible sport.

“Are you wearing Bisicleta?”

– A blow through oneself – yes, Borya Nikonorov taught me. It’s not scary to fall on the sand. And if you’re interested, then google “soccer”. You will immediately understand what it is about.
