Authoritative NHL insider Greg Wyszynski assessed Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid’s performance in Game 5 of the 2024 Stanley Cup Final series against the Florida Panthers. The 27-year-old Canadian scored 4 points (2+2) last night and helped his team win with a score of 5:3.

“I must say that after Game 5 of the Finals, serious changes occurred in the Conn Smythe Trophy betting market,” Wyszynski wrote on his social media page.

Previously, experts named Florida goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky as the leading candidate for the Conn Smythe Trophy. In the first three matches of the final series, the 35-year-old Russian conceded only 4 goals and led his team to victory three times. However, in the next two matches, he conceded a total of 9 goals and lost twice.

The Conn Smythe Trophy is awarded to the player who performs best in the playoffs. In fact, it is awarded to the Stanley Cup MVP.
