Florida head coach explained why Bobrovsky missed practice ahead of Stanley Cup decider

Florida Panthers head coach Paul Maurice said the Russian goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky did not participate in practice as the goalie was given extra time to recover after a trip to Edmonton.

On Sunday, Bobrovsky did not appear on the ice with the team in practice.

— Bobrovsky’s absence today was due to the need to return him to his usual routine after the trip. “He will go to training tomorrow morning,” journalist Jameson Olive quoted Maurice as saying.

Florida, with Bobrovsky in goal, won the first three games of the NHL final series against Edmonton, but then the Oilers won three in a row and tied the score – 3-3.

The deciding seventh game of the final series will take place in Florida on June 24.
