Tolyatti striker “Lada” Ostap Safin believes that during the last KHL season the team played hockey that the opponents did not like.
In the 2023/24 season, Lada lost to Avangard Omsk in the first round of the Gagarin Cup with a score of 1–4.
— Are you lucky to have moved to Lada? There was a lot of confidence and playing time in the team.
— Yes, even in training and pre-season matches, the coaches were convinced that I could play in the majority and in the minority. This gives me confidence and motivation to do the same next year and work on myself.
— What is the secret of Lada, who had a successful season?
— The team is young, loaded, new and something of a coincidence. We haven’t been the best in all the matches we’ve won. In the past we scored everything we could, in the past our goalkeeper played well, in the past we were lucky. But the fact that we fought and were an unpleasant team for the opponent is important. I think that was our biggest asset – not winning on experience and skill, but winning with the kind of hockey that no one likes and being so bold,” Safin said, as quoted by RB Sport.
