Athletistic / Hockey. The Florida Panthers defeated the Edmonton Oilers 2-1 in Game 7 of the 2024 Stanley Cup Final. However, the playoff MVP went to a Canadian player.
This time, the Stanley Cup MVP was Edmonton captain and forward Connor McDavid. Over the course of 25 games in the playoffs, the 27-year-old Canadian scored 42 points for his performance – he scored 8 goals and became the author of 34 assists.
Connor received the Conn Smythe Trophy for the first time. Interestingly, McDavid did not go on the ice to receive the award. It is noteworthy that for the first time in 21 years this award was received by a player from the losing team in the final.
In the final series, Florida’s Russian goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky was considered the leading contender for Conn Smythe. However, he allowed Edmonton to come back from 0-3 in the series and ultimately did not receive a personal reward.
