The St. Petersburg club will terminate the contract with the 19-year-old striker, but will retain his sports rights in the Kontinental Hockey League. Michkov is expected to continue his career with the NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers.
Michkov was selected by the Flyers in the first round, 7th overall, in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. Last season he scored 41 points (19+22) in 47 matches for Sochi, where he played on loan.
