Russian goaltender for the Florida Panthers Sergei Bobrovsky deserves to be enshrined in the NHL Hall of Fame after his career, says former defenseman for several KHL clubs Nikita Shchitov.
On Monday, Florida defeated Edmonton at home in the seventh game of the Stanley Cup Final with a score of 2:1 and won the trophy for the first time in its history. Bobrovsky, 35, stopped 23 shots and was recognized as the first star of the game.
— I think Bobrovsky deserves to be included in the NHL Hall of Fame. But I believe that players with an active career cannot be included. Otherwise, people like Alexander Ovechkin, Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin would already be there. I think it’s premature. It doesn’t happen that players are inducted into the NHL Hall of Fame during their career,” Shchitov told RB Sport.
Bobrovsky played 24 games in the last NHL playoffs, winning 16 times with a reliability coefficient of 2.32 and 90.6% saved shots. He won the Stanley Cup for the first time in his career.
