Athletistic / Hockey. Florida Panthers goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky has responded to criticism over his big NHL contract. The 35-year-old Russian did this after winning the Stanley Cup in 2024.
“At one point, I almost lost my status as Florida’s starting goalie. But in the end, overcoming such adversity makes you stronger. When you fall, you learn a lot. Without being at the bottom, you can’t rise high.
Fans are fans. They will never lie. They are always honest with the team: if you are not playing very well, they will definitely let you know. Our fans deserve a Stanley Cup. I am really grateful to them for the support they have given me here. I heard my name chanted before the start of game seven of the final series, as I was making a save. In any situation, they were on my side,” Bobrovsky said as quoted by The Athletic.
Sergei Bobrovsky joined Florida in 2019. His $10 million per season contract will expire at the end of the 2025-26 season. The 35-year-old Russian has won the Vezina Trophy twice. This award is given to the best goaltender at the end of the NHL season.
