Former head coach of the Russian national team Vladimir Pluschev said the two-time Stanley Cup winner Pavel Datsyuk has a unique technique on ice.
On Tuesday, it became known that the Olympic champion would be enshrined in the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2024. On Wednesday, 45-year-old Datsyuk announced his retirement. The last time he participated in matches was in 2021 with the Yekaterinburg Avtomobilist.
— I would like to congratulate Pavel on his inclusion in the Hall of Fame. I remember how he made his debut for the national team. He is a unique player with a unique technique. A very good-natured, sociable person who is easy to communicate and work with. He proved everything on the field, his skills were recognized not only in our country, but also in North America. Indeed, he possessed certain technical skills; few people can show on the ice what he demonstrated. “I congratulate him with all my heart,” Gazeta.Ru quoted Plyushchev as saying.
Datsyuk is a two-time Stanley Cup winner with the Detroit Red Wings. As a member of the Russian national team, the forward won gold at the 2018 Olympics, the 2012 World Championships and bronze at the 2002 Games. In Russia, Datsyuk also played for Ak Bars Kazan, SKA St. Petersburg, CSKA Moscow and Dynamo.
