Captain of the Washington Alexander Ovechkin did not receive a single vote in the election for the National Hockey League’s symbolic team of the season.
The 38-year-old hockey player was never mentioned when voting for the left winger position.
The first place in the vote was won by Russian Artemy Panarin (Rangers), second by Swede Filip Forsberg (Nashville) and third by Russian Kirill Kaprizov (Minnesota). In total, nine forwards were named on the ballot.
Ovechkin scored 65 points (31+34) in 79 games last regular season. Previously, the forward was selected to the NHL All-Star team 12 times.
