IIHF ignored Russian players in 2024 NHL Rookie Draft message

The International Hockey Federation (IIHF) published an article on the social network X, dedicated to the upcoming 2024 National Hockey League rookie draft.

To an article with the text “Which European will be drafted first?” » a photo of six hockey players was attached, in which there were no players from Russia or Belarus. The publication includes Finn Konsta Helenius, Adam Jiříček (Czech Republic), Mikael Brandsegg-Nygaard (Norway), Emil Hemming (Finland), Leon Muggli (Switzerland) and Aron Kiviharju (Finland).

At the same time, Belarusian Artem Levshunov, Russians Ivan Demidov and Anton Silaev are considered the draft favorites among European players.

The first round of the NHL Draft will take place in Paradise (Nevada, USA) on the night of June 28-29, Moscow time. By decision of the IIHF, Russia and Belarus are suspended from competitions under the auspices of the organization.
