Russian hockey player Nikita Zadorov will not sign a new contract with “Vancouver” said NHL club general manager Patrick Alvin.
Earlier, media reported that the 29-year-old defender, whose contract expires on July 1, rejected a long-term offer from Vancouver with a salary of around $4.5 million per year. After that, Canucks management stopped negotiating an extension.
— Nikita Zadorov helped us a lot in the playoffs. He’s a guy with character. And we did everything possible, but he decided he wanted to go somewhere else,” Alwyn said according to The Province.
Last season, Zadorov reached the semifinals of the NHL Western Conference playoffs with Vancouver, where the team lost the series to Edmonton (3-4). In the playoffs, the Russian defender appeared in 13 games, recording four goals and four assists. Previously in the league, the Russian defender played for Buffalo, Colorado and Calgary.
