“We thought: why not give Zherdev a chance? – head coach of Minsk “Dynamo”

Minsk coach “Dynamo” Craig Woodcroft after the game against S.K.A. (1:4) in the framework of the Sochi Hockey Open Stavok League tournament, he spoke about striker Nikolai Zherdev, who was on trial in the Belarusian team.

On August 1, it became known that the forward did not pass the trial at the Minsk club.

– In the first half of the game, we looked great against the backdrop of SKA, we even led the game at times. But then they lost the game. And even when they scored a goal, they had already taken their foot off the accelerator pedal. We created chances to score, but we couldn’t convert them. But the adversary did. Well, we learned a good lesson, – said Woodcroft.

– How did the idea to take Nikolai Zherdev come to the screening, and why did he not succeed in this screening?

— Our organization received an offer. We thought, “Why not give it a chance?” He wanted to go back to the KHL, had been training all summer, was hungry for hockey. We haven’t lost anything.

I think Zherdev tried very hard, set an example for young people, how he can play. He contributed to the development of young Belarusian hockey players. And at the boot camp stage, he faced his mission, giving his energy and sharing his experience.

Zherdev is a double world champion in the Russian team.
