‘It was not an easy decision in terms of politics, but the family supported me’ – Swede Klasson on the transition to CSKA

Defender CSKA Fredrik Klasson told how he was transferred to the Russian hockey club.

The Swedish hockey player has signed a one-year contract with CSKA.

“I already know ‘hello’ in Russian!” I feel good, everything is fine. It’s great to come and meet the guys on the team.

I’ve been playing for many years, but lately I haven’t had enough playing minutes. And I want to show myself. That’s why I came here to play hockey, to show my best game. Even if it was not an easy decision politically. But all my friends and family supported me. I understand that many were surprised when I signed a contract and came to play here. My family is now in Canada, but I hope that my relatives will come here as soon as possible, quotes the Klasson army press service.

Klasson played in the NHL for San Jose, Ottawa, Rangers and New Jersey. In total, the 29-year-old hockey player played 170 regular league games and scored 28 points (7 goals and 21 assists). As part of the Swedish national team, the defender became the winner of the World Junior Championship.
