Athletistic / Hockey. Russian goaltender Ilya Samsonov signed a contract with the Vegas Golden Knights on July 1. For the 2024/25 season, the 27-year-old Russian will earn $1.8 million.
Ilya Samsonov has been playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs since 2022. In the 2023/2024 NHL regular season, the Russian played in 40 games, won 23 games and recorded three shutouts with a 3.13 save percentage and 89% of shots on goal. Due to poor play in January, Samsonov was offered in the waiver draft, but no one took Ilya then. In the playoffs, the Russian played five games, won one game, had 89.6% of shots on goal and a 3.01 save percentage.
Before Toronto, Ilya Samsonov played in the NHL for the Washington Capitals. In Russia, the goaltender played for Metallurg Magnitogorsk.
