Athletistic / Hockey. Carolina Hurricanes Russian defenseman Dmitry Orlov compared the National Hockey League to the Kontinental Hockey League. The 32-year-old hockey player believes that the level of players and the quality of their selection are higher in the North American league.

“It’s hard for me to say whether the KHL has come close to the NHL in terms of level. I don’t know. To be honest, I didn’t watch the Gagarin Cup final this year. But I saw a few KHL games during the season. But it’s a little different. There are boring games in the KHL, but it also happens in the NHL and yet the level of hockey players and the quality of the selection in the NHL are higher. “Countries come to North America, I think the NHL is even stronger,” Orlov quotes “Match TV”.

Dmitry Orlov became a Carolina player in the summer of 2023. His contract with the Hurricanes is valid until the end of the 2024/2025 season. In his first season for the Raleigh team, the Russian defender played 82 regular season matches and scored 26 (6+20) performance points with an overall rating of +4. In 11 playoff matches, Orlov scored 6 (2+4) goals.

In 2018, Dmitry Orlov won the Stanley Cup with the Washington Capitals. In Russia, he played for Novokuznetsk Metallurg.
