Former Vice President of Metallurg Magnitogorsk Gennady Velichkin told that he would attend the Olympic hockey champion’s farewell match Sergei Mozyakin .
On Wednesday, Metallurg announced a match for Mozyakin. The match will take place on July 27 at the Magnitka Arena. The hockey player retired in 2021.
— Mozyakin’s transition in 2011 was a great success and happiness. Metallurg was lucky that it happened. People like Seryozha can be counted on one hand. He is an outstanding athlete and person. Everything went well for Metallurg and Sergei. The team accepted him and recognized him as a leader. Thanks to this, the Gagarin Cups were won.
Sergei had a difficult career. He played there and played here, showed promise everywhere, was a good player. But in the end, he proved that he was not only a good player, but also a “super” player. There are very few of them in Russia.
“I will go to Sergei’s farewell match. I hope he will invite me. We are friends with him, on good terms. If he does not invite me, I will buy tickets. But I think we will not get there,” Velichkin told .
Mozyakin is a two-time Gagarin Cup winner, Olympic champion and two-time world champion. He has 928 points (419 goals and 509 assists) in 842 KHL regular season and playoff games.
