Russian hockey player Gridin won’t play in NCAA due to poor grades at school – media

Russian hockey player Matvey Gridin will not be able to play in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) league, journalist Connor Yeargood reports on the social network.

The reason for this is an insufficient level of academic performance.

The 18-year-old forward is expected to continue his career in the Quebec Junior League (QMJHL). Val-d’Or selected the Russian in the Canadian Hockey League international draft with the first overall pick.

In the 2024 National Hockey League Rookie Draft, Gridin was selected in the first round, 28th overall, by the Calgary Flames.
