Athletistic / Hockey. Journalist Anthony Trudeau spoke about forward Vladimir Tarasenko’s decision to join the Detroit Red Wings. The 32-year-old Russian signed a two-year contract with the Red Wings on July 3.

The two-year deal gives Tarasenko some job security after signing a one-year deal with Ottawa in 2023. The 32-year-old Russian showed he still has gas in the tank, scoring 23 goals and 55 points with Florida and winning his second Stanley Cup.

Tarasenko will add some depth to Detroit’s previously lacking six talented forwards. Franchise stars Lucas Raymond, Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat have scored more goals than the Russian in the 2023-24 season but have shown little physical prowess. And Vlady also brings a winning culture to a Detroit team desperate to return to the playoffs,” Trudeau was quoted as saying by Daily Faceoff.

Vladimir Tarasenko left the Ottawa Senators for Florida at the deadline and helped the Panthers win the club’s first Stanley Cup. The Russian earned his first NHL playoff victory in 2019 with the St. Louis Blues.
