Hockey agent Dan Milstein, representing the interests of the Russian forward Ivan Demidov said Montreal had made serious efforts to acquire its client.
At the end of June, during the NHL draft, the Canadian club selected Demidov, 18, fifth overall.
“Montreal really wanted to get Demidov, they stayed in touch with us and Vanya several times a week. They did everything they could to bring him to them,” Milstein quotes in the “Championship.”
Last season, Demidov won the Kharlamov Cup and was recognized as the MHL’s most valuable player as part of SKA-1946. In the playoffs, the forward played 17 games, scoring 28 points (11+17).
