Russian hockey player Gridin signs contract with Calgary

Russian attacker Matvey Gridin entered into a contract with “Calgary” reports the NHL club’s press service.

The 18-year-old forward signed a three-year standard entry-level contract with the North American club. The average annual salary for a hockey player will be $975,000.

In the 2024 National Hockey League Rookie Draft, Gridin was selected in the first round, 28th overall, by the Calgary Flames.

Matvey was also selected first overall in the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) Import Draft. The Muskegon USHL forward was drafted by Val-d’Or of the Quebec Junior League.

Gridin left for North America in 2022. Before that, he played for Spartak St. Petersburg (U18) and Avangard (U17).
