Hockey agent Dan Milstein, representing the interests of the Belarusian forward Ilya Protas said the hockey player will be selected in the 2024 NHL Draft by the Washington Capitals.

— To what extent did you expect such a gift from Washington to bring the two Protas brothers into the system?
— We were certainly waiting, but there was serious interest from a number of other teams. Younger brother Ilya joked: “It doesn’t matter when I’m chosen. The main thing is that Lyosha comes first.” As a result, Lyosha was selected in the third round in 2019 with the 91st overall pick, and Ilya is now also in the third round, but with the 75th pick.
“We worked with Washington, shared information so that they would take Ilya. The brothers have a dream: to play together in one team,” Milstein was quoted as saying by “Championship.”
Washington selected the 17-year-old forward in the third round of the NHL Draft, 75th overall.
Following last season’s results, Ilya Protas was named to the USHL All-Rookie Team: he appeared in 61 games, scored 14 goals and provided 37 assists.
