Athletistic/Hockey. The Boston Bruins NHL team became the only one in the last five years not to draft any Russian or Belarusian players. The Bruins used 23 draft picks during that period, but none went to players from Russia or Belarus.

Meanwhile, the Islanders, Los Angeles, Rangers, Ottawa and Detroit each drafted a Russian or Belarusian during the same period.

The Carolina Hurricanes hold the record for the most Russian and Belarusian players selected in the NHL Draft. Over the past five years, the club has selected 20 of these players out of 48 selections, a percentage of 41.7%. In the 2024 NHL Draft, Carolina drafted six Russian hockey players: Nikita Artamonov, Alexander Siryatsky, Timur Kol, Roman Shokhrin, Fedor Avramov and Andrei Krutov. The top three also include the New Jersey Devils and Calgary Flames, who each selected eight players.
