“It’s a pity that this happened, but I won’t be discouraged.” Match TV presenter talks about leaving the MHC Chaika coaching staff

host Dmitry Fedorov explained why he left the MHC coaching staff “Seagull”.

— It is a true story in a situation where changes are taking place in the club.

I was offered a contract with Chaika when the management decided on the number of the new head coach. He was assigned three assistants, and not two as before. We talked twice with Dmitry Gogolev. We discussed tactics, the training process, relations with the guys last season. I raised the question of my functionality in the coming season. And after hearing Gogolev’s opinion, I realized that for the comfortable functioning of the coaching staff, for self-respect, it would be better for me not to sign the contract. In the MHL, two assistants are quite enough.

I learned a lot last season. Alexey Gennadievich Isakov and Dmitry Evgenievich Kosmachev trusted me and we had excellent personal contacts. Thanks to all this, I quickly developed as a specialist. Preparation of the theory about the opponent, analysis of one’s own game, understanding of tactics, preparation for training, explanation of exercises, maintaining the intensity of the training process, training throw-ins, superimposing links in the game and other important features – I mastered all this in practice.

It’s a pity that this happened, but I won’t be discouraged. An option will definitely appear.

I am grateful to Torpedo and personally to Maxim Romanovich Gafurov for giving me the chance to start a coaching career. I will miss our wonderful players. It is difficult to part with the Nizhny Novgorod fans – they have always supported me.

We will definitely be in touch with the coaches we worked with in Chaika and will continue to communicate. I will worry about them.

“I am not returning to KHL TV, I am not going to commentate on the matches,” Fedorov wrote on the Telegram channel.

“Chaika” became the bronze medalist of the Kharlamov Cup at the end of the 2023/24 season.
